This exceptionally soft, yet durable calf leather gets its natural and fashionable colors from the rare and complex aniline dyeing process. This type of dyeing is characterized by the fact that the dye penetrates deeply into the leather and is not just applied on top. This preserves the surface structure of the leather, which makes each product unique in its texture.
The leather for the toiletry and cosmetic bags from the F. Hammann leather manufacturer is tanned in Santa Croce near Florence in Italy from the best Alpine hides. This is done without the addition of chromium salts in closed cycles, significantly undercutting the latest EU environmental standards. The leather is a byproduct of the local industry - no animal is used exclusively for its leather.
